U.S. Open

The 2008 U.S. Open comes to San Diego and beautiful Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course is the proud host from June 9th–15th. Last year's winner, Angel Cabrera, will certainly be a favorite and locals will be rooting for hometown favorite Phil Mickelson. The tournament will also welcome several top players that don't play the Buick in January, including Ernie Els and Adam Scott. Tiger Woods' current winning streak of four could be in tact for the Open and threaten Lord Byron Nelson's streak of 11 set back in 1945. Whoever wins will have earned it because the Par 71 South Course will play to over 7,600 yards, making it the longest Open in history. For San Diego's first golf major, a special block of rooms is available on a first come, first serve basis for those individual travelers who would like to experience this one-of-a-kind event.
